ASHTON COURT RAILWAY UNDER THREAT

Mark & Graham

Cllr Mark Weston (Leader of the Conservative Group on Bristol City Council) was delighted to meet with representatives of the Bristol Society of Model and Experimental Engineers earlier this week with colleague Cllr Graham Morris.

At the moment the Council is threatening to end their lease this October. This would be a real blow to the estate. The railway brings real joy to young and old alike and is a unique asset for the Bristol area.

Cllr Weston commented 'After forty five years at the site, and considering all of the blood, sweat and tears that have been poured into building a real gem this is a massive insult to all involved. The society has my full support and I, and my colleagues, will do all we can to keep it open. I hope the Mayor rethinks this terrible idea'.
