Councillor Liz Brennan has called for a Petition on Safer Roads outside our school.
Dear Resident,
Safer Roads Outside Our School I am writing to ask for your support for a local campaign to improve road safety outside Christ Church C of E VC Infant School.
Parents and residents have raised serious concerns about the poor condition of the road outside the school, particularly along Christchurch Avenue, Christchurch Lane and Church View. At busy drop-off and pick-up times, unclear road markings and parked vehicles can create hazardous conditions for children and families walking to and from school. Children should be able to travel to and from school safely. That is why I am asking the council to take action to improve safety outside the school and ensure the road conditions support long-lasting safety measures. My petition calls on the council to:
- Installing a clearly marked pedestrian walkway across the end of Christchurch Ave.
- Reinstate highly visible yellow zig-zag markings to prevent pavement parking.
- Install clear and enforceable School Keep Clear markings
- Introduce double yellow lines where needed to prevent dangerous parking.
- Resurface Christchurch Ave outside the school
- Treat this as a priority road safety project.
If you share these concerns, please support the campaign by signing the petition. Community support can help ensure the council prioritises the improvements needed to make the area safer for children and families.
I would be so grateful for your support in making our children’s journey to school safe.
